I'm reminded on a daily basis.
I think people perceive me as a good listener and I'd like to think I am. Therefor, people feel comfortable with telling me just about anything. And you better believe they do. But he actually lets me be the one to talk and listens (as long as the t.v. isn't on). There are very few people in my life that allow me to do so or that I feel comfortable doing that with.
We rant with each other like little kids. If we should happen to start on particular subject that we both agree on, it takes pure brute force to get us to stop. (Or a really cute toddler who wants our attention<3) If you could be a fly on the wall during these sessions you would either laugh hysterically or stare wide-eyed/s (how many eyes to flies have?) at how crazy we get. I find it very entertaining and therapeutic. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels a certain way about something or someone. However, we can get a little carried away at times. But that's the fun of it all.
Most of you know I love my food. So someone who can cook a really tasty breakfast is definitely a plus in my book. There's nothing better than peanut butter and chocolate chip pancakes for Mother's Day. And more times than not, he will even cook dinner (because I also hate to cook).
He makes me feel like it's okay to act like a little kid. His imagination is really unlike anything I've ever seen. The games he comes up when he plays with Ella, the particular ideas he has to fix things that have gone wrong or are broken; they are pretty special. And I don't mean "short-bus" special. It's something not many people can do.
He taught me how to be a friendlier person. If you knew me before I met him and know me now, you'd understand. I've actually never met anyone who didn't like him. That's saying something. -- Now don't get me wrong. I'm not someone who could ever be nice and friendly to EVERYONE because I couldn't care less if they all like me or not. I'm never going to be that neighbor who goes out of her way to talk when I'm trying to get the groceries out of the car. That's just not me. And I enjoy my privacy. So, if your child climbs over our fence to get a ball they happened to bounce into OUR yard, I'm not going to be okay with it. But he will (at least on the outside). And that's what I love about him. - If you've become important in his life, he will be the most dedicated person to you, to all family and close friends. That's hard to find.
How long has it been? 7 years? Here's to another 70+ more.

ReplyDeleteAwww..that is the sweetest thing I have ever heard., little girl! I am so happy that you have figured out early how to be happy! Some people go their whole lives looking and it is right under their noses. I love that you can see joy and meaning in the simple things in life that mean so much and make it your mission to uphold it. I love Adam dearly and think he IS perfect for and I am glad he is so good to you! This is from a mom whose life mission was to see you and all her kids happy and content! Peace! ;-) Love, Mom
